Questionable Reliability

Pros: Lots of cold air, looks nice, takes only minimal window space.
Cons: May no longer work after 3 days, window units hundreds cheaper, control buttons look/feel cheap.
The Bottom Line: Due to reliability concerns, cost, and limited manufacturers to choose from for this type of product, I regrettably have to recommend using a window unit instead.

Review: I bought a WA-9000E unit through Newegg to help cool my bedroom. The room is small, has a couple of computers in it, and faces the sun in the evening, so it can get uncomfortably hot. I also have roommates and usually keep the door shut.

Portable weak airconditioner, good dehumidifier.

Pros: Dehumidifies well, cooling is ok.
Cons: Drainage cup must be drained every four hours or less---makes overnight usage painful.
The Bottom Line: Ok unit for minimal cooling where a traditional window airconditioner cannot go (odd windows or zoning). Good demumidifier.

Average Portable Air Con

Pros: Cools the air.
Cons: Noisy, exhaust pipe has no insulation and the pipe gets very hot during operation.

Review: It does cool the room down. However, the exhaust pipe gets very hot during operation. There is no insulation for the exhaust pipe, which I guess it's normal for a portable air con.
