Pros: Compact, efficient, does what it should, doubles as computer DVD drive!
Cons: No monitor circuit; agressive with VHS tape copy protection.
The Bottom Line: If you need what this machine does, it's a good value and will work well. Do your homework and understand what it does and does not do.

I recently bought a VRD-VC20 slightly used on Ebay. It came with original packaging, software and cable, and the manual is available through Sony online. This is now an outdated unit in Sony's line, but it can be a good value if it suits your needs...

Pros: A perfect substitute for an ordinary DVD burner you could buy for half the price.
Cons: A waste of time and money, shame on Sony!
The Bottom Line: It would be unfair to say "Boycott Sony", so I won't.

Pros: PC and Mac compatible, small footprint, easy to use.
Cons: None, really. Have not used software.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for an external burner that is both Mac and PC compatible, I would recommend this model.
